As the list below shows, 7 of the 10 fastest-sold cities in the St Louis MSA were in St Louis County, 2 in St Charles County and 1 in Jefferson County.
Homes that sold in St. John, Missouri within the past 30 days took an average of just 18 days to sell, putting St John in the number 1 slot of Fastest Sold cities in the St Louis MSA. As the table below shows, the cities that made the top 10 list are all on the Missouri side of the Mississippi, with 7 cities in St Louis County and 3 in St Charles County.

It may be the slow season for real estate but there are still plenty of areas in St Louis where homes are selling fast! As the table below shows, the cities where homes have sold the fastest in the past 30 days are scattered throughout the St Louis metro area. From number 1 on the list, Wright City in the far western area of the metro area in Warren County to number 2 on the list over on the east side of the Mississippi River in Waterloo Illinois.
Not only did the beautiful fall weather of October draw St Louis area families to the popular apple and pumpkin picking festivities at Eckert’s Millstadt Farm, it also brought out home buyers putting Millstadt, IL at the top of our fastest SOLD cities in the St Louis metro area for October. As our table below shows (an exclusive feature of MORE™, REALTORS® feature), homes in Millstadt took just an average of 8 days to sell in October. The next nine cities on the list were all in Missouri with 5 of those in St Louis County, 2 in Jefferson County, 1 in St Charles County and 1 in Warren County.
During the month of July, the homes that sold in Maplewood, Missouri took a median time of just 5 days to sell making Maplewood the fastest SOLD city in the St Louis MSA for July 2018! For July, the two fastest selling cities in St Louis took less time to sell than the number 1 city on June’s list (Columbia, IL at 9 days).
Considering the sales that closed in June were from contracts executed during the spring market, we would expect the time to sell to be low, but the time to sell for July’s closings didn’t slip much. In fact, for the 10-fastest-selling St Louis cities on our list this month, the median time to sell is 11 days, a day less than June’s median time of 12 days for the top 10 list. For the overall St Louis MSA as a whole however, there has been a slight increase in time to sell going from a median time of 12 days in June (yes, the overall median was the same as the median for the top 10 (wow!) and for July it is 14 days.

It took an average of just 9 days for homes to sell in Columbia, Illinois last month, making Columbia the fastest selling city in the St Louis MSA during June. Waterloo was the other Illinois city that made the list (#4) with the remaining 8 cities being in Missouri. Of the eight cities in Missouri on the list, 7 are in St Louis County and 1 in St Charles County.
Anyone in the market to buy a home in St Louis has probably already discovered the good listings are selling quickly and often with multiple offers. While this is not true in all areas and prices ranges, it is certainly true in many. So where are homes selling the fastest in St Louis? Well, the answer has been kind of a moving target, largely impacted by the low inventory of homes for sale, but, as of today, as the table below shows, Wright City is the answer with homes taking an average of only 6 days to sell last month.
Three of the fastest selling cities in the St Louis metro area are on the Illinois side of the Mississippi including the number one city on the list, Columbia. As the table below shows, homes that sold in Columbia Illinois during the past 30 days were on the market an average of just 21 days before they sold. Four of the ten-fastest selling cities saw homes sell in less than a month with the remaining six cities averaging just over a month. The St Louis area real estate market had a good year in 2017 with strong sales and sustainable home price growth throughout the area. One of the challenges to the market was a result of a low inventory of homes for sale which forced home buyers to move quickly when a new listings hit the market. This resulted in homes selling very quickly in popular areas and areas of high demand.

As our table below shows, Grantwood Village, a quaint Village with about 900 residents in about 350 homes, was the fastest selling city of the St Louis MSA during 2017. Homes in Grantwood Village, which is home to Grant’s Fram and The Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, sold in an average time of just 17 days during 2017.

With just a few days before Christmas and Thanksgiving less than a month ago, this is normally known as the “slow season” for real estate however, homes in St Louis continue to sell in record time! Below are the 10 St Louis metro area cities where homes have sold the fastest, based upon the average days it took homes to sell that closed within the last 30 days. The fastest selling city today is Rock Hill at 12 days which is only 1 day slower than the #1 city on the list back in late August. As we head into the holidays and winter months, the St Louis real estate market is slowing as is typical, however, it is still going fairly strong. Below are the 10 St Louis metro area cities where homes sold the quickest, based upon the days it too homes to sell that closed in the last 30 days. The time it took homes to sell has only dropped slightly since we last published this list in late August. In late August the number 1 city on the list took 11 days to sell and #10 on the list, 20 days. Today’s number one is at 13 days and number ten, 25 days, so just modestly slower.

All ten of the cities on the Top Ten list of fastest sold cities are in Missouri with eight of those being in St Louis County. On the Illinois side of the river, Swansea was the first St Louis Metro area city on the list, coming in at #13.
